Testimonials
Elisabeth Walker, Paralympian and former swimmer
"An exceptional event! Elisabeth shared personal stories, brought in video, medals… all the while tying in our school agreements of respect, participation, listening and appreciation. (...) Planning, organizing, and the event itself have been a real highlight of the year."
- Michael Byrne, Principal, Earl Haig JPS
Lauren Woolstencroft, Paralympian and Former Alpine Skiier
“On
April 6th the Maple Leafs were honoured to have Lauren Woolstencroft
as our special guest. We had never before welcomed an athlete (Olympic or
Paralympic) as decorated as Lauren. She gave our 19,000 fans the opportunity
that so many of us wanted, and that was to cheer for, in person, a true hero of
the 2010 games. All who participated in Lauren’s standing ovation won’t soon
forget the experience. It was a truly magnificent, Canadian
moment. Thank
you to the Canadian Paralympic Committee and to Lauren
Woolstencroft.”
- Mike Ferriman, Manager, Special Game Presentation and
Events, The Toronto Maple Leafs Hockey Club
Canada's National Sledge Hockey Team
“Our fans really enjoyed the appearance by the local Men’s Sledge
Hockey Team last winter at Scotiabank Place. They received a huge ovation when
we introduced them on the video scoreboard during the game, and many of our fans
got the chance to meet the athletes face-to-face during an autograph session
later that night. It’s not every day that our fans get to meet Paralympic
athletes and this was a memorable night for many of our fans,
young and
old alike.”
- Glen Gower, Director, Game Entertainment, Ottawa Senators
Viviane Forest, Paralympian and Alpine Skiier
“I
wanted to add my personal thanks to Viviane Forest, she
was fantastic. In particular for
letting people take pictures with her precious medals. She really touched our
hearts and everyone felt her kind spirit, strength and
determination.The Olympic and Paralympic
Athlete panel had the highest ranking
honours from the survey of attendees!! They knocked it out of the park!”
- Anna
Teed, National
Quality Institute
Heroes Program
“Thank you so much
for your help with putting us in touch with some of the Paralympians. Greg
Westlake, Paul Rosen, Tracey Ferguson and Chelsey Gotell attended our gala
fundraiser “An Evening With John Furlong” on November 15th, along
with 16 other Olympians. It was an honour to have
such accomplished athletes at our event. Our sponsors were thrilled to have them
seated at their tables and their presence truly contributed to a feeling of
national pride and togetherness that underscored the evening. They are all so
impressive and I really enjoyed meeting them.”
