Équipe canadienne

L'ÉQUIPE CANADIENNE COMPREND 121 ATHLÈTES, 11 GUIDES ET 73 OFFICIELS, POUR UN TOTAL DE 207 MEMBRES.

L'équipe canadienne ne déterminera pas un objectif de médailles pour les Jeux parapanaméricains de 2011 à Guadalajara. Ces Jeux sont une composante de base pour le succès des futurs Jeux paralympiques et, à ce titre, Équipe Canada est formée d'athlètes aguerris et d'équipes possédant de l'expérience paralympique ainsi que de jeunes athlètes en développement qui prendront part à leurs premiers grands jeux.

Pour certains sports d'équipe, dont le basketball en fauteuil roulant et le volleyball assis, les Jeux de Guadalajara représentent une épreuve de qualification directe pour Londres. Ces sports délègueront donc leurs athlètes les plus aguerris.

Les autres sports enverront des athlètes peaufinant leur préparation pour les Jeux de 2012 à Londres ainsi que des représentants de la prochaine génération de champions paralympiques qui vivront leur première expérience internationale à des Jeux multisports afin de se préparer pour les Jeux parapanaméricains de 2015 à Toronto et les Jeux paralympiques de 2016 à Rio.

Les Jeux parapanaméricains constituent donc une étape importante pour le développement des athlètes en leur permettant d'acquérir une précieuse expérience en Jeux multisports. Il va sans dire que tous les athlètes canadiens représenteront fièrement leur pays à Guadalajara.
