Bradley Bowden

Profile

Brad, who lives in Orton, Ontario, is a dedicated athlete and a member of two Canadian national teams. He has been on Canada's national wheelchair basketball team since 2003 and on the national sledge hockey team since 1999. He has Sacral Agenesis, a condition similar to Spina Bifida.
After playing sledge hockey at the local level for several years with the Kitchener Sidewinders, Brad joined the national team in 1999 and ended up winning his first World Championships in 2000.
His hard work, focus and dedication have contributed to his success in sport. He followed up a gold medal win in basketball at the 2004 Summer Paralympic Games in Athens with a gold medal in sledge hockey at the 2006 Winter Paralympic Games in Torino, where Brad scored the winning goal against Norway. He also has a gold medal from the 2008 IPC Sledge Hockey World Championships
Named the Most Sportsmanlike Player on the national basketball team in 2004, Brad also received the government of Ontario's 2006 Male Athlete with a Disability of the Year Award. Brad’s favourite NHL player is the legendary Bobby Orr.
