“I knew I had been skiing really well in Super-G all year. I knew I had it in me. I just tried to relax and it worked out today. Really happy.” Woolstencroft said after the race.
Bouncing back from a 4th-place in the downhill earlier in the Games, Lauren showed a combination of great athletic ability and mental toughness to capture her 4th career Paralympic medal.
“I found the downhill really icy, which I struggled with. I found the snow a lot grippier here today. I thought the course was really smooth and it was great.”
Her teammate Arly Fogarty (Montreal, QC) finished in 10th place with a time of 1:25.28.
“It was a great run. I felt great. The skis were great, the conditions were great. All around fantastic,” Fogarty said.
In the Men’s Super-G, Matthew Hallat (Vancouver, BC) finished in 37th place, completing the course in 1:18.11, trailing the gold medalist by 6.24 seconds.
