Michelle Stillwell to carry the Canadian Flag in New Zealand

OTTAWA - Michelle Stilwell of Nanoose Bay, British Columbia was named Canadian flag bearer for the opening ceremonies of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athletics World Championships. The opening ceremonies are tonight for Canadians at 6:00pm eastern time, 12:00pm Friday in Christchurch, New Zealand.  Competition at the IPC Worlds begins tomorrow. 

Stilwell enjoyed an outstanding 2010 season which saw her break two world records and set an additional Canadian record in T52 classification wheelchair racing events. In the 100 and 200-metres she bettered her own world records clocking in at 19.52 and 35.82 respectively. Michelle set a new Canadian record in the 400-metres with a clocking of 1:08.81, bettering a mark set by Lisa Franks at the 2004 Paralympic Games.
