On Saturday September 25, 2010 the Langley Mustangs Track and Field Club will be offering a free clinic and information session to any person with a physical disability who is interested in participating in track and field sports. The clinic will run at McLeod Athletic Park from 9:30 am - 12:30 pm.
This free clinic will kick start a new Para-Athletics program scheduled to begin running regularly this at McLeod Park in Langley, BC. Long time Canadian National Para-Athletic team member Dustin Walsh and his guide Steve Walters will be in attendance as well as Langley's own Canadian Para-National Track team member Braedon Dolfo. Walsh, Walters and Dolfo are all expected to be named to Canada's team for the Paralympic World Track and Field Championships in January 2011 in New Zealand.
The Langley Mustangs Track and Field Club initiated the development of a club based Para-Athletics program.
"This program is unique in its scope and intent. We are looking to establish a consistent and high quality training environment for athlete's with physical disabilities", says Brent Dolfo, Langley Mustangs club President. "In partnership with SportAbility, BC Blind Sports, BC Wheelchair Sports, Athletics Canada and BC Athletics our club will strive to create a sustainable Para-Athletics program for athletes with a physical disability in the Fraser Valley and beyond."
The Langley Mustangs Track and Field Club is located in Langley, BC and is both a high performance and recreational club made up of over 100 athletes from elementary age to Masters (35+ years).
