“As 2010 approaches, we are experiencing unprecedented interest in Paralympic sports,” said Ms. Qualtrough. “As part of our preparations, we started the year with a review of the opportunity this presents. He subsequently founded a sport marketing firm, Sportcom International Inc., and was instrumental in raising awareness and sponsorship for athletes, Canadian national teams and major sporting events.

“As more Canadians experience the competitiveness and excitement of the Paralympic Games and learn about this country’s great winning tradition in Paralympic sport, I believe even more of us will be inspired by our accomplishments.” said Mr. Storgaard. “The Paralympic Games to be hosted in Vancouver and Whistler next March will showcase our winter teams on home soil. This presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for athletes, corporate sponsors, fans and our partners.”

“Mr. Storgaard’s background in business and sport will have a tremendous impact on strengthening the Paralympic Movement in Canada”, said Alex Baumann, executive director – Own the Podium (Summer) “With the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games being less than six months away, I am confident Mr. Storgaard will deliver on the CPC’s strategic goals including the achievement of finishing among the top three nations at these Games.”

“In addition to meeting our goals, it is my hope that Canadians with a physical disability and an interest in sport will be inspired by our national team’s performance in Vancouver and one day be Paralympic athletes themselves,” Henry Storgaard said.
