Athletics Canada announces 2007 Parapanamerican Games team

OTTAWA (July 10)- Athletics Canada announced today the 2007 Parapanamerican Games Team competing in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil August 12th -19th. For the first year, the Parapanamerican Games will follow the Pan American Games and take place in the same city and venue.



The Parapanamerican Games originated in 1999 in Mexico City. In their first year the Games attracted 19 countries and nearly 1000 athletes in four sports. The second Parapanamerican Games were held in Mar del Plata, Argentina in 2003. This year’s Parapanamerican Games will showcase ten different sports and are expected to attract over 1300 athletes and 700 delegates.
