The Canadian Paralympic Committee inducts new members biennally, during a non-Games year. The induction ceremony takes place during the CPC Annual General Meeting.
Inductees to the Canadian Paralympic Hall of Fame are chosen by a selection committee from candidates nominated by CPC members.
Nominees are evaluated on the basis of the significance and scope of their achievements, their dedication to sport, the consistency of their performance over a span of time, and personal qualities that reflect the CPC values on and off the field of play.
SUBMITTING A NOMINATION
The call for nominations to the Canadian Paralympic Hall of Fame is issued to CPC members via the Paralympic Trail. Nominations are accepted based on the following process. Precise dates and timelines vary on an annual basis.

Step 2
Complete and submit the nomination package for each nominee. Each nomination package must include:
- A letter of nomination (1 to 5 pages)
- Material to support the information provided in the letter of nomination
- A signed Declaration Form
The letter of nomination must describe in detail why the nominee deserves the award. It should include details of the role, as well as the duration of the nominee’s contribution, specifically related to the nomination criteria for the category they are being nominated in. The nomination should provide details of the benefits of the nominees contribution to the Paralympic community.
Current contact information (address, phone, fax, e-mail) of the nominee are required.
In addition to the nomination letter, you may submit supporting material such as newspaper articles, photographs, testimonials, and footage. Supporting materials should be limited to items that specifically support the information provided in the letter of nomination. Please note supporting materials may not be returned.
In addition to the nomination letter a signed “Declaration Form” must be completed before a nomination is valid.
Step 3
Nomination packages are accepted via mail, fax, or email to the CPC office no later than midnight of the deadline date.
SELECTION COMMITTEE
The Hall of Fame Awards Selection Committee consists of five individuals and is chaired by the CPC President. The selection committee changes for each induction. It always includes the former CPC President and three other individuals chosen by the CPC President. A CPC staff member also sits on the committee as an ex-officio member.
Nominee Assessment and Announcement of Award Winner
Based on nominations received by the deadline date, the Hall of Fame Awards Selection Committee gives each nominee a score, from 1 to 5, on each factor noted in the award criteria. Scores are tabulated and averaged by the committee chairperson to determine the successful candidate. Scores remain confidential.
A ceremony is held to honour inductees to the Canadian Paralympic Hall of Fame where possible, travel and accommodation costs of the Inductee(s) to attend the ceremony are shared, or covered, by CPC.
