Henry
Storgaard, CEO of the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC), is a leading
practitioner of strategic marketing and branding in Canada. A recipient of the Gold
Medal in Marketing from Marketing Magazine, Mr. Storgaard brings more than 25 years of experience and
strategic counsel in the areas of branding, corporate positioning, marketing, communication
and sponsorship.
Mr. Storgaard has an extensive sport background and started his career as Marketing Director of the Canadian Ski Association. He went on to produce the primetime television sport specials: The Crazy Canucks, The Dream Never Dies, and The Fast and The Furious, which brought popularity to some of Canada’s top athletes.
Following this, Mr. Storgaard founded Sportcom International Inc., which later became Storgaard & Associates. The company was responsible for developing marketing and communication strategies for major sporting events and Canadian national teams, as well as securing sponsorship deals. Some of the major international sporting events worked on include the Calgary 1988 Olympic Winter Games, Canada Games, and world cup competitions.
Mr. Storgaard then worked as vice president for international public affairs and communication company GPC for four years. After this, he became senior vice-president and managing director of APCO Worldwide, a public affairs and strategic communications firm.
This extensive expertise has helped Mr. Storgaard define competitive advantages for clients of leading national corporations, governments, and national and international organizations. He has managed long-term, multi-office and multi-discipline teams to help clients address major corporate challenges, such as profile raising, repositioning, market research, strategic planning, and national campaigns. He is particularly skilled at developing strategic alliances between public and private sectors marshalling resources toward a common public issue or cause. National social marketing campaigns he has worked on include Fair Play, Healthcheck health and fitness campaigns, and several other issue defined initiatives.
Mr. Storgaard holds a Bachelor of Educational Studies from the University of Waterloo and has been an active member of the community, sitting as an executive board member for numerous organizations, including Camp Trillium, a camp for children with cancer; the Ottawa Community Foundation; and the Rideau Canada Festival.
